What could I use to heat up a tent?

Posted by Filed Under Camping Heater with 4 Comments

i will be going camping in March and I usually don’t use heaters but it gets cold. I am bringing my dog with me this time. I need to know if they make a heater for a tent. I’ve seen those propane heaters but I don’t want to use anything like that in a tent. I will have a power hook up. Can anyone give me some hints on how to keep my dog warm. He is small( Boston Terrier) so I will be bringing his cage so he doesn’t run off.

Would an electric space heater be safe for use inside a tent?

Posted by Filed Under Camping Heater with 5 Comments

My husband and I are planning a camping trip in February. We’ll be in Texas so we won’t be in danger of freezing, but it would be nice to have a little extra warmth in the tent since it will be a 4 night trip. I’ve seen many propane space heaters, but they don’t last long and I’m a bit skittish about the explosive factor of a pressurized flamable tank. Call me crazy. I know many electric space heaters have a safety shut off in case of being knocked over. Any hints or experiences anyone would like to share?
Garner State Park on the Rio Frio river has camp sites with water and electricity. A throw would keep us warm as we sleep, but we have sleeping bags for that. I’d like something to keep the tent itself slightly warmer. Also, my brother, husband, four year old son and myself are going camping this Thanksgiving. I thought it might be nice to have the space heater for that trip as well.
The electrocution hazzard is a concern. I guess I’ll just drop the idea entirely. It wasn’t a complete neccessity, it was just a thought.

My bf is asking me if I want to go camping again this weekend, should I go?

Posted by Filed Under Camping Heater with 5 Comments

We did it last weekend and it was a TOTAL disaster. Please see my last post on this subject lol lol. Anyway this time he says we will leave in the morning (tomorrow on Friday) which will give him lots of time to set up the tent, and campsite. He’s going to bring a space heater for the tent plus an air mattress which we did not have before. Oh should I bring some nice warm socks for my tosies? One answerer suggested that maybe my tosies were totally numb (they were!!).

He said if I go with him on the weekend plus be available for dates etc or maybe weekend getaways to a nice romantic place (staying indoors lol lol and when he has any money which is practically NEVER!!that’s why he likes camping so much lol lol then he will totally allow me to study during the week so I can get good grades in school. I’m a Chemistry Major, he’s doing an easier major like Political Science (how’s that for a role reversal lol lol).

Camping with a baby?

Posted by Filed Under Camping Heater with 11 Comments

My hubby and I are going to go tent camping this weekend with our little girl. Is is 6 and a half months old. We have a small heater for the tent that we are only going to turn on before we go to bed to warm the tent up. The low for the next 3 days is 49 degrees. Do you think that this is alright? I am going to dress her in a onesie, reg. PJ’s and a sleepsack. Does anybody have have any tips or recomendations for me.
My hubby and I are campers and we both love it I don’t think that it would be painful. But we also love spending time with our little one and we are away from her when we are at work all week so we are looking forward to a nice family weekend.
Granted i am nervous but i am hoping that once we get there and get through one night i can relax. I was just wondering if anybody had gone tent camping with a baby and what their exerperence was.

Thanks!

Camping on February 24th in IL. Is that a good idea?

Posted by Filed Under Camping Heater with 6 Comments

It’s cold, but I believe it may not be so cold as Jan. I will camp with a tent and a heater. Do you think it’s a good idea to camp at that time? Why people like winter camping? I just want to try it. However, I don’t want to try at the coldest period for my first experience. When is the coldest time and is February just mid-cold or low-cold? Thank you.

Lowest safe temperature during winter camping?

Posted by Filed Under Camping Heater with 6 Comments

I’m going winter camping this weekend, and I was wondering what the lowest safe temperature was to be camping in a tent. It’s supposed to get to -15 (Celcius) and the heater we have is unreliable at best. Also I have doubts about how well this has all been planned. Exactly how dangerous would it be to be out there at this temperature (I’m planning to sleep in two sleeping bags an 2 hoodies)
