How do I make pine cones for pretty camping fire flames?

I know I can buy these commercially, but would like to make some myself to give to camping friends. Most campgrounds have a fire ring where the camper can build a fire to roast weiners and marshmallows. These commercial pine cones add colors to the flames, like green and blue. How do I make them myself?

Going camping with 2 dogs?

I have 2 dogs, a pomeranian, and a beagle. The beagle has never gone camping, but the pomeranian has. They both sleep in cages at night. Both of their cages will not fit inside our camper. They will stay on chains/leashes while we are there(required by law) except when they are in their cages. They will stay in their cages at night, meaning it will get around 45 degrees at night. They do not stay outside while at home. Would it be ok if they stay outside, with their cages under an awning, a heater beside their crates, and then a blanket covering the crates? What are your suggestions? Do you have any other suggestions also while we are camping? Thanks! :)

Camper Water Heater Atwood model G6a-7, pilot ignition, only about 1/2 gallon is getting hot – HELP!?

I light my camper’s water heater pilot light and it fires up the burner. It will run for a few minutes and switch off. I go and run hot water and there is only about 1/2 gallon of hot water coming from the water heater tank. The unit was stored with an antifreeze solution when I purchased it. Can that stuff screw up the thermostat? I am not sure what the terminolgy is for the unit that controls the heat and the probe that goes into the tank, but my feeling is that something is telling the thermostat that the water is hot, when very little is. Do you have any ideas?
also, in case you think i have not turned up the temp on thermostat, i have already tried every setting and the best the heater will do is heat the water in the top of the tank.

How can I tell the size of my Hot water heater in my camper?

I need to know if it is 6 or 10 gallon.
I can not look in the owners manual for the camper, I am the 4th or 5th owner and the manual is long gone.
I tried looking in the heater for the size, but all the info is ether burned from the hot metal, or faded in time. My camper is over 30 years old and the water heater needs to be replaced.

NOTE… scraping it is not an option. It is not a vacation camper, it is my home.
