Is it illegal to have a small fire in the Everglades?

Just like a camp fire, but burning things other than wood. Would that be illegal? Or would we need permission to do so? Can we do it without permission?

No it is not illegal, but there is presently I believe a ban on it.
Are you kidding? You obviously do not live in Florida. Strike even a match right now, and get caught – let alone a bloomin campfire!
Have you not watched the news to know that a huge wildfire is eating the Everglades right now?
It was started by some moron who tossed a lit cigarette out of the car window.
I live 40 miles away from the fire. I can smell it. There was ash on my car windows this morning.
Please do not start a campfire…and NO – they won’t give you permission!
