Has anyone had a coyote jump over them in the middle of the night while quietly sitting by a camp fire?

This happened to me once while up hunting and I never heard the coyote , but saw the shadow fly over me against the tent…when I grabbed the flash light and shotgun setting next to me and shined it in it’s direction ..he just stood and looked at me from 30 feet away and then just vanished into the darkness like a ghost !

About 15 years ago I was in my yard in the middle of the night. It was pitch black. Something brushed by me and kept running. I assumed that it was one of the 6 dogs I had at the time. When I got to the house I realized all the dogs were locked in the garage for the night.

Never had that happen, or seen one near me.

Down by the border in AZ they usually trip over you, then everyone in the group runs like heck and scatters…..

My last trip out to Hole in the wall (it really exists, not some place you know who hangs out at) in the mojave desert the place we camped at had coyotes all over the place I never saw so many. In our camp at night they were even brazen enough to come into the campsite and steal stuff off the picnic table. We decided to take turns keeping watch as we all had hunting dogs with us and did not know what to expect through the night. We couldn’t shoot them as we had an angry camp-host not liking us hunters there at all.

I have seen many things while sitting by a campfire at night. I once saw my girlfriend show up at my campsite completely nude. It wasn’t a good feeling because her best friend was in the tent, completely nude also. Some bad, bad things happened that night. It was scary, I tell you. Real scary!
