Portable Generator Purchase Decision?

Posted by Filed Under Camping Heater with No Comments

I’m looking to purchase a portable generator about 5,000 watts. Can
someone give me a good , reliable , and very common brand that would be easy to get parts for ( if needed ) not just engine parts but
the generator as well. I don’t really know briggs & stratton"s reputation
these days but I know I still see the older motors going even today.
I’d like to spend under $ 500.00 but really under 0.00 ideally..
Any suggestions would be appreciated. There are just so many out
there. Eastern Tool, Northern, Briggs, Troy Built etc…etc… I would be using this for my cottage apartment as well as "out on the road" for
use with an automotive battery charger, Electric impact gun, and any
type of camping needs. The higest consumer I can think of would be
a portable electric heater at 1500w… I really don’t need industrial.
Thanks A model number would be great….heck, even a place to buy.
Great advice. I figured in an emergency
situation I might need (two) 1500 watt electric heaters for my apartment plus
a light and maybe a small appliance.
In fact, I could probably get away with
a 2000 or 2500 watt generator if I use
only one heater and a light . I don’t want
a lot of noise so it looks like I should really consider the Honda engine..
I’ll keep doing my homework for a few
more days… Thanks all…

I need help getting a recently purchased RV (USED) readyfor the season to camp & travel?

Flu or should I worry its swine flu? or just feeling sick from being out in the cold?

Posted by Filed Under Camping Heater with 3 Comments

I went camping this weekend and lets just say it was COLD. while we had a heater, it died in the night. It had to be below 40 degrees.
Anyways
Yesterday I got a sore throat.
Today I have many flu signs:
* Fever, i think
* Headache
* Muscular aches
* Fatigue and weakness
* Nasal congestion
* Loss of appetite

I’m pretty sure I’ve never had the flu (26 and never got a flu shot either)

Does it sound like it could be the flu? Swine flu? Or could this just be from being in the cold all weekend long?
Thanks for your thoughts
I’m not sure if I’ve ever had the flu before, It just seems that I haven’t. Or if I have, I thought it was a cold/24 hour bug as I normally only feel sick for 23-48hours type length

Where would you rather live temporarily? On the street or in a camp cabin with no bathroom?

Posted by Filed Under Camping Heater with 5 Comments

If you could choose between living on the street or living in your own rustic camp cabin which would you choose?

The camp cabin would be all your own. You would have an electric heater, a cott,wood floors, wood pannel walls, no windows and a wooden door.

The cabin would also have two light bulbs. The inside of the cabin is painted green on the walls and the door is also green. The door has a latch instead of a doornob.

Would you choose to live in this camp cabin for a week or on the street?
If you were claustrophobic would you latch the cabin door shut while you would be sleeping at night?

I cleaned the tank and went and got another betta, now this one is going through the same problem, and is not getting better. i am using malachite green and salt. im afraid i am going to lose another betta, what should i do?

Does anyone know a great spot to host a sit down feast/dinner but outdoor?? Preferably with trees etc so I could hang fairylights and stuff.
It is at night, in July.. We are getting outdoor heaters etc.
Preferably somewhere where I could have a bonfire or like a little camp fire thing for marshmallow afterwards but if not that’s okay ^_^

Is it warm in a tent even in winter?

Posted by Filed Under Camping Heater with 11 Comments

I have a double skin dome tent. Plenty of fleece blankets and one of those gas heaters. Also a camping cot so can sleep off the ground, and one of those heat reflector blankets. A hand warmer as well.

Would it be warm?
I have an extra ground sheet as well.
@ Only Fooling Myself. LOL, erm…well yes that would be a good way to keep warm of course. No need for heaters and hand warmers then :)
@ Bub. I would keep the air vents open if and when used the heater.
Thanks for all the advice.

Difficult to pick a best answer so will leave this for the vote.
@ Casey. Everybody has to start at the begining. Nobody is expert at anything to start with, hence why I have the sense to ask for advice and do research before just setting off with the wrong gear.

    mold and frost problems?

    Posted by Filed Under Camping Heater with 1 Comment

    I stay in a camping trailer during the winter and use a eden pure heater. It heats fine, but it doesn’t get to a few areas. (like the closet, under the bed, and by the door) So these areas get cold and sometimes frost up and then get mold and mildew later. what can i do to stop this? Is there anything special i can do to these areas, like special paint, etc… I also have a small doggy door in the back corner under the bed, so cold air can get in. I have it protected from the cold the best i can. Can i do anything else? I also have a roof vent, how should i prepare this for the winter?
